UK Child Abuse Prevention Association (UK CAPA) partners with Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky (PCAK) to promote awareness of child abuse prevention in Kentucky. These organizations are extremely important as we are one of the most highly ranked states in this category.

UK CAPA will be giving a presentation on child abuse prevention at Step by Step Ministry on March 10th from 7:15-8:00 PM. Anyone who is interested is more than welcome to participate!

Orientation for Training Workshops

Before the Winter Break, UK CAPA became offical partners with Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky (PCAK), the statewide chapter of a nationwide organization called Prevent Child Abuse America. One of the things I wanted to accomplish through UK CAPA was increasing child abuse prevention awareness in the community, particularly single mother facilities (e.g., Virginia Place, Step By Step Ministry) and also providing training workshops to healthcare providers, including medical students and residents. During our last meeting with PCAK staff, this issue was brought up and we have set up an orientation day for those who might be interested in participating in these training workshops.

The orientation will be held at 5:30 PM in MN 563 on February 17th. The Pediatrics Interest Group has been kind enough to help out with making this orientation a possibility, so dinner from Bourbon n' Toulouse will be provided!
